How strong is your proprietary cabinet material?
Stronger and more durable than Baltic Birch. It is the same
material that they use to build ocean racers. Our cabinets are probably the most durable cabinets ever made. It
is not only stronger and lighter than Baltic Birch, it is also harder so it
can handle all the door jambs and stairways that a gigging musician will face. It is virtually impervious to humidity, water, and chemicals.
Are these built to exact the fEARful™ spec?
Almost. Our cored material is stronger when it is thicker. Doubling the thickness increases stiffness by 500%. This is why we use thicker material. As a result, our 1" cabinets are made with minimal bracing and are stronger than a heavily braced 1/2" plywood cabinet. The internal dimensions are the same.
What crossovers are used in the cabinets?
The official greenboy designed crossover for the woofer/mid and the hi-pass that Duke Lejeune designed for the tweeter.
What hardware comes in your cabinets?
The hardware is all Penn-Elcom and has been chosen for durability and lightweight.
· All drivers designated for the cabinet choice.
· Top Corner Handle
· ABS/Aluminum d-style side handles
· Large rubber feet
· Black Duratex™ finish
· Perforated metal grille
· Jack plate with dual Speakon connectors
· Recessed tiltback casters, except for 12/6
Can the cabinet be finished in Tolex or carpet?
Yes, we work closely with an upholstery shop and can cover the cabinet in Tolex, carpet, or other fabrics. Quotes available upon request.
How is payment handled?
When we commission a build, 50% is due at the onset and 50% is due at completion. Once we discuss the build with you, we will send you an invoice through Paypal that can accept Credit Card payment. We also accept money orders. Sorry, but we cannot accept personal checks or COD. Shipping is added to the final invoice and is shipped through UPS.
What is included with the tweeter?
The horn and compression driver of choice as well as Lejeune designed crossover and a variable level control mounted on the input jack plate.
What input connection is on the jack plate?
The input terminal will accept Speakon cables. There are two so that you can daisy chain multiple cabs together.
Can the Jacks be wired for bi-amping?
Yes. We can have one jack wired to the woofer and the other to the midrange upon special request. If the cabinet also has a tweeter, then the midrange and tweeter will be on the same input and the Lejeune tweeter hi pass will be installed. We can either omit the crossover components between the woofer and midrange (saving weight), or wire it to separate jacks.
What is the difference between the 18 Sound tweeter and the Dayton/Eminence tweeter?
The Dayton horn/ASD 1001 combo provides a 80x50 degree dispersion and the 18 sound offers a 90x60 degree dispersion so it will be slightly easier to hear when standing up close to the cab. Most of your hi end will be coming from the midrange and the tweeter will provide more of the air and upper partials.
What is the maximum output of each cabinet?
The graph below shows the maximum power handling and SPL output of each model. Subtract 3dB for every halving of power. For example, the 1212/6 will put out 128 dB with 1067 watts, 125 dB with 534 watts, and 122 dB with 267 watts.
